Welcome back everyone. LanceScurv here, and I’m going to talk to you straight—no filter, no sugarcoating—about something that is quietly destroying us while we smile into a screen and call it normal.
The sky can turn dark, the rain can fall, the bugs can fly around my head—but nothing distracts me more than watching what these smartphones are doing to our people. This is not just a tool anymore. This is not just technology. This is a lifestyle, a habit, and for many, a full-blown addiction.
We don’t even realize how deep it goes. We laugh, we scroll, we tap, we watch, but something inside of us is changing. Slowly. Quietly. Permanently.
I’ve seen it with my own eyes. I’ve lived long enough to know what life was like before all of this. And let me tell you—what we have now is not an upgrade in every way. In some ways, it’s a downgrade of the mind.
And if you’re honest with yourself, you’ve seen it too.
THE DIGITAL TRANCE IS REAL
Look around you. People are walking, talking, sitting, eating—but they’re not really there. Their body is present, but their mind is somewhere else, locked into a screen.
You can call someone’s name three times before they even look up. And when they do, it’s like they just woke up from a dream. There’s a delay. A pause. A disconnect.
That’s not normal.
That’s a mind that has been pulled away from reality and trained to live in a constant stream of distraction.
A GENERATION RAISED BY SCREENS
Now let me make this clear—this is not about attacking any age group. But we have to speak truth. Those who grew up without this technology had a chance to develop their minds differently.
We had to read. We had to write. We had to think.
When we wanted answers, we had to search for them. We had to use our brains like a muscle.
But today, many are born into a world where the answers come to them without effort. They don’t seek knowledge—knowledge is fed to them, and most of the time, it’s not even real knowledge.
It’s entertainment disguised as information.
And when your mind is fed junk all day, don’t be surprised when you can’t function properly.
THE LOSS OF FOCUS AND THINKING
I’ve seen people struggle to answer simple questions. Not because they don’t know—but because their mind is slow to respond.
There’s a delay.
You ask them something basic, and they pause like they have to dig through a cloud of noise just to find a simple answer.
That didn’t used to happen like this.
Our minds used to be sharp. Quick. Ready.
Now? Too many people are living in a constant state of distraction, where their attention is broken into little pieces all day long.
And when your attention is fragmented, your thinking becomes fragmented too.
THE SCROLLING ADDICTION
Let’s talk about that scrolling.
Scroll. Scroll. Scroll.
No purpose. No direction. Just endless consumption.
Your brain gets used to quick hits of information, quick bursts of entertainment, quick reactions. And after a while, you can’t sit still long enough to focus on anything that requires real thought.
Books become boring.
Deep conversations become exhausting.
Learning feels like work.
But foolishness? That goes down easy.
That’s how you know something is wrong.
THE MENTAL PACIFIER
This device has become a pacifier for adults.
Just like a baby needs something to suck on to stay quiet, many people can’t go five minutes without looking at their phone.
But here’s the problem—this pacifier has no nourishment.
It doesn’t build you.
It doesn’t strengthen you.
In many cases, it weakens you.
You’re calm, but you’re empty.
You’re entertained, but you’re not growing.
THE LOSS OF REAL-WORLD SKILLS
There was a time when people knew how to figure things out.
If something broke, you tried to fix it.
If you didn’t know something, you went and learned it.
Now? Many people freeze.
They wait.
They look.
They don’t know how to think through problems because they’ve been trained to expect answers without effort.
And when that answer doesn’t come quickly, they shut down.
That’s dangerous.
THE BLUE LIGHT EFFECT ON THE MIND
Even the way we take in information has changed.
Reading from a screen is not the same as reading from a book.
A book demands your attention.
A screen distracts you.
Notifications. Pop-ups. Videos. Links.
Your mind never settles. It never locks in.
And over time, that affects how much you retain and how deeply you understand what you’re reading.
WE ARE LOSING CONNECTION WITH REALITY
This is bigger than just phones.
This is about how we connect with the world.
People don’t go outside like they used to.
They don’t interact like they used to.
They don’t observe life like they used to.
They live through a screen.
And when you live through a screen, you start to lose touch with what’s real.
THE NEED TO TAKE BACK CONTROL
Now don’t get it twisted—I’m not saying throw your phone away.
This tool can be powerful if used right.
But you have to control it.
Don’t let it control you.
Use it to learn.
Use it to build.
Use it to connect in a real way.
But don’t let it turn your mind into something weak, slow, and dependent.
MY CLOSING THOUGHTS…
We are at a crossroads right now.
We can continue down this path of distraction and mental decline, or we can wake up and take back our focus.
The choice is ours.
But don’t wait until it’s too late to realize what you’ve lost.
Your mind is your greatest asset.
Protect it.
Build it.
Strengthen it.
Don’t hand it over to a screen without a fight.
I’m speaking from experience, from observation, and from a place of truth.
Look around you.
Pay attention.
And most important—pay attention to yourself.
Are you still in control?
Or has the screen taken over?
In time we will all know…
Sincerely,
SCURV
