Welcome back to the real talk that many people are afraid to have. This is that raw, uncut truth that doesn’t care about your feelings but cares about your freedom. What I’m about to say may make some people uncomfortable, but sometimes discomfort is the first step to waking up.
We are living in a time where identity has become confusing. Not by accident, but by design. What used to be clear has now been broken into pieces, renamed, repackaged, and sold back to us in a way that makes us doubt who we are. And when you don’t know who you are, you can’t stand strong.
Back in the day, there was no confusion about how society saw you. There was no long list of categories. There was no pick and choose identity game. There was one rule that was harsh, unfair, and clear. But now, suddenly, we have all these new terms, new labels, and new boxes to check.
And the question we have to ask ourselves is simple. Why now? Why all these new labels today when they didn’t exist before? What changed? Or better yet, who benefits from this change?
Because when you really step back and look at it, you start to see that this isn’t about celebrating differences. This is about dividing people who share common roots, common struggles, and common reality.
THE CREATION OF CONFUSION
Let’s talk about what’s really happening. Terms like “biracial” and other new identities didn’t just appear out of nowhere. They were introduced into a system that already knew how to classify people very clearly.
So why add more labels?
Because the more you divide people into smaller groups, the harder it is for them to unite. It’s that simple. Unity is powerful, but confusion is weakening.
When you start saying, “I’m not this, I’m that,” and someone else says, “No, I’m something different,” you create distance where there should be connection. You create separation where there should be strength.
And the craziest part is, many of us defend these divisions like they are our own ideas. We fight each other over labels that were never created by us in the first place.
THE FEAR OF UNITY
There is a deep fear in this world. And it’s not what many people think. It’s not a fear of weakness. It’s a fear of unity among melanated people.
Because when people who share similar features, similar history, and similar experiences come together, that creates a force that can’t be easily controlled.
So what do you do if you fear that? You divide them.
You give them different names. You tell them they are not the same. You encourage them to argue about identity instead of building together.
And over time, they start to believe it. They start to see each other as different, even when they share so much in common.
THE GLOBAL REALITY WE IGNORE
Here’s something many people don’t think about. When you step outside of certain countries and look at the world as a whole, you see a very different picture.
You see that people with melanin are not a small group. They are everywhere. They are the majority in many parts of the world.
But through media, through education, and through constant programming, many have been made to feel like they are less, like they are few, like they are not the standard.
That perception is powerful. Because if you believe you are small, you will think small. If you believe you are weak, you will act weak.
And that belief system is one of the most effective tools ever used.
THE PSYCHOLOGICAL CONDITIONING
Let’s go deeper. This is not just about labels. This is about mindset. This is about years of conditioning that started very early.
When people are taught that their history began in pain, they begin to associate themselves with that pain. When they are shown negative images over and over again, they begin to internalize those images.
And when they are given an option to call themselves something else, many will take it, not realizing that they are running from themselves.
This is not about hating anyone else. This is about understanding how deep the programming goes.
Because when you don’t like what you see in the mirror, you will change the name before you change the reality.
DIVISION THROUGH CONVENIENCE
Another truth that many don’t want to talk about is how identity is used when it is convenient.
People will claim certain identities when it benefits them. When it helps them gain support, gain power, or gain acceptance. But when it comes time to stand firm, they distance themselves.
And many of us fall for it again and again.
We open our arms, we support, we defend, and in the end, we are left with nothing but the same problems we started with.
This is why unity must be real and not based on temporary advantage.
THE NEED FOR A NEW MINDSET
This is where the shift has to happen. Not just in words, but in thinking.
Call yourself what you want, but understand what you are doing when you reject certain identities. Ask yourself if it is truly your choice or if it was influenced by years of programming.
Understand that different cultures exist, different experiences exist, but there can still be a common foundation.
And most importantly, stop fighting each other over labels.
Because every minute spent arguing about names is a minute not spent building power.
MY CLOSING THOUGHTS…
We have been taught to see ourselves through a broken lens. A lens that distorts our value, our history, and our connection to each other. And until we fix that lens, we will continue to see a false image.
The truth is, there is nothing wrong with being melanated. There is nothing to run from. There is nothing to be ashamed of. But many have been taught to feel that way without even realizing it.
This is not about forcing anyone into a box. This is about breaking free from the boxes that were created to limit us. It’s about thinking deeper, seeing clearer, and moving smarter.
If we don’t wake up, we will continue to be divided by design. We will continue to argue over names while others move forward with power and purpose.
So the question is simple. Are you going to keep playing the game, or are you going to start understanding it?
Because once you see the game for what it is, you can never unsee it. And that is when real change begins.
Some while get this message and others will allow it to fly right over their heads.
Sincerely,
SCURV
